Project Challenges

Rebuilding Webflow Pages in WordPress

The original hiring pages were created in Webflow, but the project was being moved into WordPress as part of a larger system rebuild. My work involved recreating the landing page designs in Adobe XD and preparing them for the new WordPress environment.

Working Within a Limited Content Management System

A custom content management system was being built by OneUp, and the back end was difficult to use with limited layout flexibility. The challenge was helping translate the designs into a structure that could work inside the system without losing the intent of the page.

Supporting Two Hiring Page Styles

The project included two page styles: a standard hiring landing page and a specialized version for recruiting former military workers. Each layout needed to support the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation hiring message while staying consistent with the larger recruitment system.

My Approach

I approached the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation hiring pages as a production and accessibility project within a larger public-sector website rebuild. The design direction already existed in Webflow, but the pages needed to be recreated in Adobe XD and prepared for a WordPress-based system that another team was custom building.

My focus was on translating the approved landing page styles into cleaner, more usable layouts that could work within the limits of the new content management system. I also helped account for accessibility, content formatting, and developer handoff so the pages could move from design files into the final build.

I recreated the approved hiring landing page designs in Adobe XD so the layout, content flow, and visual hierarchy could be reviewed before the pages moved into the custom WordPress system. From there, I focused on making the layouts clearer, more structured, and easier for the development team to translate into the final build.

Adapted the Layouts for the New System

Because the custom content management system had layout limits, I adjusted the page structure where needed while keeping the hiring content, visual hierarchy, and page purpose intact.

Prepared for Developer Handoff

I organized the design files and page direction so the development team could translate the landing pages into the custom WordPress system.

Landing Page Design

The landing page designs needed to support public-sector hiring information without making the content feel overwhelming. I recreated the page layouts in Adobe XD, focusing on clear section structure, readable content areas, strong calls to action, and a layout system that could support both standard recruitment pages and the military-focused hiring page.

Because the pages were moving into a custom WordPress content management system, the designs also had to be realistic for the platform. The goal was to keep the hiring pages clear, consistent, and usable while preparing them for the development team’s final build.

Accessibility and Developer Handoff

The pages also needed to be prepared for accessibility and development review. I helped format the landing page content with clearer structure, readable sections, and accessibility considerations so the designs could move into the custom WordPress build with fewer issues.

Because another team was building the final system, the handoff needed to be clear enough for them to understand the intended layout, content hierarchy, and page behavior inside the limited content management system.
